Terms of service

Short version: use the site and the demo sensibly, project terms are whatever we agree in writing, you own what you pay for, and we do not promise rankings or sales that nobody can control.

Using this website

You are welcome to read, quote and link to anything here. What you may not do is copy the site wholesale, scrape it to rebuild it elsewhere, or use it to break the law.

The OCR demo

The demo at /ocr/ is provided free so you can see how the recognition works.

It is a demonstration, not a service. It is offered as-is, may change or be switched off at any time, and is not covered by any uptime or accuracy commitment.
Do not upload other people's documents unless you have the right to do so, and do not upload anything you would not put through a third-party recognition service.
Check the output. Recognition is never perfect. Do not rely on extracted fields for anything that matters without checking them against the original.
Fair use. Automated or bulk submission is not allowed; the demo is protected against bots and abusive traffic may be blocked.

Project work

This page is a summary. The binding terms for paid work are the written quote or agreement we both sign.

Scope and price are agreed in writing before work starts. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately rather than absorbed silently.
You supply the content and access — text, images, logos and accounts. Delays in getting these move the timeline.
Ownership passes on payment. Once the work is paid for, the site, code and content we produced for you are yours. Our own reusable components and third-party software keep their own licences.
Third-party costs are yours — domains, hosting, ad spend, payment gateway and software subscriptions are billed by those providers to you, not marked up by us.
We may show the work. Unless you ask us not to, we may list a public project as a case study on this site.

What we do not promise

Being honest here is better than burying it.

No guaranteed rankings or sales. Nobody controls Google's results or an ad auction. We commit to the work and the reporting, not to a position or a revenue figure.
Third-party platforms can change. Google, Meta, payment providers and hosting all change rules and pricing; we adapt, but we do not control them.
Liability is limited to the fees paid for the piece of work concerned. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits.
Backups. We keep sensible backups of work in progress, but once a site is handed over, keeping backups of your live system is your responsibility unless we are engaged to maintain it.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong SAR. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update this page; the date below tells you when it last changed.
